Premio «I Migliori Sindaci d'Italia» awarded to Giuseppe Brognoli

The mayor of San Pietro Mosezzo, Giuseppe Brognoli, received the «I Migliori Sindaci d'Italia» (Italy's Best Mayors) award, promoted by Cisambiente Confindustria, for the municipality's hosting of a textile fibre recovery plant.

The «I Migliori Sindaci d'Italia» award, promoted by Cisambiente Confindustria, was given to the mayor of San Pietro Mosezzo (in the province of Novara), Giuseppe Brognoli. The award was presented by Cisambiente's general manager, Lucia Leonessi.[1]

The reason for the award

The award is linked to the siting in the municipality of a high-tech plant dedicated to recovering textile fibres, described as a project of European significance. The plant was built without using new land, through the regeneration of an existing building in the municipality's industrial area.[1]

Lucia Leonessi commented that the experience shows how cooperation between local government and industry can foster growth and environmental protection.[1]

The mayor's statements

Giuseppe Brognoli described the award as a moment of satisfaction shared with municipal administrators, workers and residents, stressing that although the award bears his name, it is the result of an entire team's work.[1] The mayor also noted that the award had previously gone to large cities with very different budgets, and that San Pietro Mosezzo's win shows how a mainly agricultural municipality can attract cutting-edge industrial investment.[1]
