Pipein
Pipein is a startup based in Turin working on technologies for managing water networks. The company has built a robotic system equipped with predictive intelligence, designed to detect and reduce leaks along water pipelines.[1]
The In Action Esg Climate award
On 22 October 2026 Pipein was selected among the winners of the In Action Esg Climate programme, run by Intesa Sanpaolo and dedicated to solutions with measurable environmental impact. The Turin project was chosen out of 231 applications together with two other ventures: Rarearth, from the Marche region, which works on recycling rare earths from end-of-life magnets, and Voidless, from Milan, which specialises in made-to-measure packaging for real-time product logistics. Each of the three projects received a contribution of 100,000 euros.[1]
The awards were announced during the closing event held at the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper in Turin, which also brought together the results of the third edition of the Up2Stars acceleration programme.[1]
Context: Up2Stars and Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment
At the same event, the 2026 cycle of Up2Stars came to a close, having selected 40 startups out of more than 500 applications received in the fields of new materials, robotics, aerospace and design tech. 75% of the companies involved were concentrated in Northern Italy, with Lombardy leading with 16 ventures, alongside a presence in Campania, Marche and Puglia. Partners in the programme include ELITE, Digit'Ed, Microsoft, Innovit and Factory Plus.[1]
During the event, overall figures on the Intesa Sanpaolo group's commitment to innovation were also released: over the past ten years, around 1 billion euros in financing has been granted to more than 4,200 innovative companies and startups. Across the various editions of Up2Stars, 62 ventures have been admitted to the ELITE Lounge for access to financial markets, while 12 took part in training missions in Silicon Valley.[1]
