Panafricando APS
Panafricando APS is a social promotion association (associazione di promozione sociale, APS) based in Turin, known mainly for organising the Panafricano Festival, an annual event dedicated to the music, art and culture of Africa and its diasporas [1][2].
The Panafricano Festival
In 2026 the association held the festival's tenth edition, which took place in Turin from 23 to 25 October with concerts, workshops, dinners and theatre shows, mostly hosted at Notorius on via Stradella 10/D [1][2][3]. Events included, on Friday 23 October, Ethio-jazz from the group Jazbyssinia from Addis Ababa, and on Saturday 24 October the Power Party with Afro-descendant DJs Nina Kipiani, DJ Noskid and DJ Salima, the latter two from the Piedmontese collective Faya Faya [1][2]. On Sunday 25 October the programme included the «Masapo» workshop run by the association Congo Help, the workshop «Il richiamo dei griot» ("The call of the griots") on the traditions of Louga, in Senegal, and the concert «Chill Kora» [3].
Cooperation between Turin and Africa
As part of the 2026 edition, on United Nations Day, Panafricando APS held at the Amendola Foundation the meeting «Dieci anni di cooperazione tra Torino, il Piemonte e l'Africa (2015-2025)» ("Ten years of cooperation between Turin, Piedmont and Africa, 2015-2025"), devoted to assessing the relations built over the decade between the area and the African continent [1][2]. At the centre of the discussion was the Turin–Daloa project, which led to the signing of a Friendship Pact between the two cities, together with the network of Piedmontese municipalities that has developed partnerships with Senegal, Burkina Faso, Benin, Guinea-Conakry, Cape Verde and Ivory Coast [1][2][3]. The presentation of the initiative was attended by the chair of Turin City Council, Maria Grazia Grippo, councillor Rosanna Purchia and Liuba Forte, who highlighted the festival's continuity over time and its attention to new generations with dual belonging [2].
Institutional support
The festival is held with the support of the City of Turin and the Turin Culture Foundation (Fondazione per la Cultura Torino) [3]. The activities of Turin and Piedmont's African communities involved in building up to the event are supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo's "Festival Partecipativi" grant scheme [3].
