Opening of the New Multispecialty Pediatric Day Hospital at Regina Margherita (September 2026)
On 28 September 2026, the new Multispecialty Pediatric Day Hospital was inaugurated on the third floor of the Ospedale Infantile Regina Margherita in Turin, bringing together the activities of University Specialist Pediatrics (headed by Luisa De Sanctis), Pediatrics (headed by Marco Spada) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases (headed by Silvia Garazzino).12
The new department covers an area of about 1,220 square metres, divided into four specialist sections — multispecialty, allergology, infectious diseases and immuno-rheumatology — with 23 medical spaces, 16 day-care beds, three waiting rooms, 20 restrooms and two herbal tea areas.23
The Day Hospital treats children and adolescents with endocrine, diabetic, auxological, genetic, immunological, rheumatological and infectious conditions, and is described as a national point of reference for these diseases.23
The project and its funding
The work, designed by the firm Miroglio & Lupica architetti associati with graphic design by Luisella Cresto, uses a seasonal-cycle motif along the corridors, intended to ease the emotional impact of treatment on children and their families.13
The project was funded entirely by donors: about 1,280,000 euros from Adisco Sezione Piemonte, 1,150,000 euros from Intesa Sanpaolo, and over 500,000 euros from the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, for a total of about three million euros.234
The initiative is part of the work of the Network of Hospital Foundations and Non-Profit Organizations of Piedmont, which brings together eleven organizations active in the hospital and healthcare sector.3
The inauguration
The inauguration was attended by the mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo and regional councillors Federico Riboldi and Andrea Tronzano, together with general director Adriano Leli.45
According to Franca Fagioli, director of the Department of Child Pathology and Care, the new layout «fosters integration between different areas of expertise and makes it possible to offer coordinated diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up pathways».4
