The Memorial Day of Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Cisterna takes place in Reano on Sunday 8 November 2026 and marks the conclusion of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the death of the Duchess of Aosta and Queen of Spain, promoted by the Comitato Maria Vittoria. [1][2]

The programme

The day begins at 10am in the Parish of San Giorgio Martire, in via Rivata, with the celebration of Holy Mass. At 11:30am proceedings move to the premises of «Le Pagode», in via della Parrocchia, where institutional speeches, an award ceremony and closing remarks on the Committee's work during the year take place. The event ends with a convivial moment and a buffet offered by the Pro Loco (local tourist association) «La Cisterna» of Reano. [1][2]

The date and its meaning

The choice of 8 November is not accidental: the date coincides with the exact anniversary of the death of Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Cisterna, who died in Sanremo on 8 November 1876 at the age of 29. [1][2]

The Comitato Maria Vittoria

The Committee is made up of the Municipality of Reano, the Associazione Internazionale Regina Elena Odv and the Metropolitan City of Turin, and has been active for a whole year with the aim of making the historical and cultural legacy of the noblewoman known to new generations. [1][2]

Metropolitan deputy mayor Jacopo Suppo stressed the link between the Metropolitan City and the figure of Maria Vittoria, recalling that Palazzo Cisterna, the seat of the body, bears her name and is the subject of a restoration project that has already returned its historic garden to the public. According to Suppo, the series of initiatives was not merely symbolic but represented a concrete commitment to making known a figure who moved between dynastic duty and dedication to the weakest, between Turin, Reano and Madrid.
