Lumos Pistoia-Reale Mutua Torino 77-84

Lumos Pistoia-Reale Mutua Torino 77-84 is the match of the second round of the 2026-2027 Serie A2 Old Wild West championship, played on 4 October 2026 at the LumoSquare in Pistoia. The match marked Reale Mutua Torino's first win of the season, following the home defeat in the first round against Mestre, which ended 57-79.[1]

The match

Torino starts strong and closes the first quarter ahead 20-30, thanks above all to Terry Allen. Pistoia reacts in the second period, closing the gap to -3, but the yellow-and-blues keep control and go into halftime leading 43-49, with Allen already at 18 points and Zach Harvey at 14.[2]

In the third quarter the home side, coached by former Torino coach Franco Ciani, complete the comeback: it is Matteo Schina, himself with a recent past at Torino, who puts his team ahead 58-56. Reale Mutua however returns to the lead with Allen, closing the quarter 63-67. In the final period Pistoia attempts another push, but Torino, despite Allen's foul trouble, pulls away again thanks to Harvey and manages the final possessions, closing the game at a final 77-84.[2]

Key players and context

Allen is Reale Mutua's top scorer with 25 points, followed by Harvey with 23. The team recorded 23 total assists, 11 of which came from Federico Massone.[2]

The match carried special significance due to the numerous crossovers between the two teams: Reale Mutua coach Paolo Moretti is tied to the Pistoia court through important moments of his career, including the 2013 promotion, while Angelo Del Chiaro is a product of the Pistoia club. On the home bench was Franco Ciani, Reale Mutua's coach between 2022 and 2024, assisted by Alessandro Iacozza, who spent six seasons on the Torino coaching staff. Among Pistoia's players with a recent past at Torino were also Matteo Schina, Ife Ajayi, and Torino-born Simone Zanotti.[1]

After the win, coach Moretti commented: "I am very happy for my players, they deserved it after a difficult week, following last Sunday's heavy defeat [...] We are very pleased with this win, for us and for our fans."[2]

Reale Mutua Torino then returned to the court the following Sunday at the Pala Gianni Asti, hosting Cividale.[2]
