Lega rally outside Alessandria hospital (November 2026)

On 7 November 2026 the Lega held a stall and a rally in piazzale Berlinguer in Alessandria, in front of the Santi Antonio e Biagio hospital, with the aim of raising awareness of the lack of safety in the hospital's car park area. According to the party, anyone using the car park, starting with hospital workers and patients' relatives, is exposed to the risk of harassment, not only from illegal parking attendants, described as «almost always unlicensed».[1][2]
The assault and the question to the council
The initiative was prompted by what Lega councillors Mattia Roggero, Gianfranco Cuttica di Revigliasco and Cinzia Lumiera described as «yet another assault on a hospital worker». The three Lega representatives said they had submitted a formal question to mayor Giorgio Abonante and the centre-left majority, calling for immediate measures against what they called «extortionists, sometimes also violent», starting with constant monitoring of the area, with particular attention to staff arrival and departure times, as they say was already the case under the previous Lega-led administration.[1][2]
Requests to the city executive
The councillors asked the current city executive for concrete action, ranging from physical surveillance to video surveillance, also considering the possibility of a military presence in the areas described as sensitive. The Lega's group leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Riccardo Molinari, recalled that cameras had been installed and a watch was in place under the municipal administration led by his party, arguing that the current situation is «out of control due to the current city executive's indifference to the issue», despite the existence, in his view, of legal tools introduced by the Lega and approved by Parliament to move on and penalise «aggressive beggars».[1][2]
