Inauguration of the Mural Dedicated to Nilde Iotti in Settimo Torinese
On 27 September 2026, a new piece of street art dedicated to Nilde Iotti was inaugurated in Settimo Torinese, in the Province of Turin. The artwork was created on an E-Distribuzione electrical substation located at via della Repubblica 12, facing the park named after the first woman to serve as President of the Chamber of Deputies.[1][2]
The Artwork and Its Context
The initiative came about through a collaboration between the Associazione Iniziative Culturali Settimesi and E-Distribuzione, the Enel Group company that manages the medium- and low-voltage electricity grid. The project is part of a wider effort by the City of Settimo Torinese to honor the Mothers of the Constitution, following a similar street art piece dedicated to Tina Anselmi in 2023.[1]
The mural was created by artist Riccardo Degli Emili, known as "Dise," in a style blending retro and pop elements. The composition features graphic references inspired by Nilde Iotti's working environments, with particular emphasis on the color blue and decorative textures.[1][2]
The Inauguration
The inauguration was attended by the mayor of Settimo Torinese, Elena Piastra, representatives of E-Distribuzione, and the artist Riccardo Degli Emili. The mayor stated that the initiative aims to breathe new life into everyday spaces by telling the story of the Italian Republic and the women who helped build it.[1]
The project is part of a broader program promoted by E-Distribuzione across Italy, aimed at artistically enhancing electrical substations and turning energy infrastructure into opportunities for urban renewal and engagement with local communities.[1]
