Fratelli d'Italia Torino

Fratelli d'Italia Torino is the city branch of the Fratelli d'Italia party, led nationally by Giorgia Meloni. In Turin the party is represented, among others, by Raffaele Marascio, a Fratelli d'Italia councillor in District 4, who acts as the movement's local representative.

Activity on the ground

The party regularly organizes information stands in city neighbourhoods on topics related to urban security and neighbourhood watch, aiming to collect reports from residents [1][2].

The contested stand in Barriera di Milano

On 19 September 2026 an information stand set up by Fratelli d'Italia in piazza Respighi, in the Barriera di Milano neighbourhood, was targeted by about ten activists linked to Turin's social centres, who tried to block the gazebo with chants and direct confrontations with the organizers [1][2]. Police officers already present in the area stepped in between the two sides, allowing the party's activists to continue handing out leaflets [1][3].

One of the protesters said he considered the people at the stand to belong to a political area incompatible with the neighbourhood, which he described as «the most inclusive and multi-ethnic in Turin» [1]. The same day, also in Barriera di Milano, the stand of the Futuro Nazionale party in piazza Bottesini was likewise targeted, where activists overturned the table during a signature-collection drive against the construction of a mosque on corso Novara [3].

The party's reaction

Raffaele Marascio, a Fratelli d'Italia councillor in District 4, called the episode an «anti-democratic» attempt to prevent an authorized initiative from taking place, blaming the social centres and speaking of a «problem of political freedom of action» for the right in Turin. He also announced his intention to continue holding stands in the city's neighbourhoods [1][2][3].
