Fourth edition of Disability Pride Torino (October 2026)

On Saturday 10 October 2026 the fourth edition of Disability Pride Torino took place in Turin, a march putting at its centre the voices, experiences and demands of disabled and neurodivergent people, calling for a welcoming and equal society, free of ableism and discrimination. The event was patronised by the City of Turin, the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Politecnico di Torino.

Participants gathered at 3pm at corso Guglielmo Marconi, at the corner with via Nizza, in the San Salvario neighbourhood; the march crossed the Parco del Valentino and continued along corso Cairoli, Lungo Po Armando Diaz and piazza Vittorio Veneto, where closing remarks by activists and institutional representatives were held around 5.30pm.

The 2026 edition focused on criticising proposals to segregate students, both for classes with pupils who are not Italian citizens and for the idea of separate classes for students with disabilities, under the slogan «differences are not to be ghettoised». The demonstration adopted an intersectional perspective, linking the fight against ableism to those against racism, sexism and homo-lesbo-bi-transphobia, and was accompanied by the Disability Pride Torino 2026 Manifesto, a document touching on school, work, accessibility, mobility and rights: it welcomes the individual life project provided for by legislative decree 62/2024, criticises the bill on caregivers approved by the Council of Ministers in January 2026 for what it considers insufficient funding, and calls for an update to the nomenclature of prostheses and aids, the application of the European Accessibility Act, and a law on informed consent for affective and sexual education in schools.

«Disability Pride is an important event for Turin because it draws attention to every person's right to participate fully in the life of the community, free from barriers and discrimination», said the City of Turin's councillor for rights, Jacopo Rosatelli.
