EconoMia and EcoQuiz 2026 Award Ceremony
Date of the event:
The EconoMia and EcoQuiz 2026 award ceremony took place on 24 October 2026 at the Intesa Sanpaolo Tower (grattacielo Intesa Sanpaolo) in Turin, as part of the International Festival of Economics (Festival Internazionale dell'Economia). The event was attended by Nobel laureates in Economics David Card and Alvin Roth [1].
The competitions
EcoQuiz is a competition for middle-school students, promoted by the Museo del Risparmio, a Turin museum dedicated to saving and financial education, together with the Fondazione per la Scuola (School Foundation). In its 2026 edition, the fifth, it involved 91 classes and 1,671 students from across Italy, addressing topics such as economic planning, pension provision and insurance instruments [1].
EconoMia, on the other hand, is aimed at high-school students: the 2026 edition saw the participation of more than 600 students, who worked on the theme "Saving the Welfare State" ("Salvare lo Stato Sociale"). During the ceremony the 20 selected winners were awarded [1].
The EcoQuiz winners
First place went to class 3M of the Adriano Fiori state middle school in Formigine, in the Province of Modena, which will receive a free educational visit to the Museo del Risparmio. Second place was awarded to class 1D of the IC (Istituto Comprensivo, a combined primary-and-middle-school institute) Merliano Tansillo - T. Vitale in Nola, and third place to class 2G of the IC Carlo Bianchi in Inverigo [1].
Context
The ceremony was part of the programme of the International Festival of Economics, during which the Museo del Risparmio organised workshops, talks and guided tours to introduce young people to concepts such as saving, welfare and the common good. Giovanna Paladino, director and curator of the Museo del Risparmio, said: "Talking about economics to young people means, first of all, talking about their future" [1].
