Diwali in Turin 2026

Diwali in Turin 2026 is the series of cultural and ritual events dedicated to the Hindu festival of light, held in the city between 25 and 29 October 2026. The initiative, promoted by the Hindu Union of Turin «Sanjivani» in collaboration with the Italian Hindu Union and under the patronage of District 8 (Circoscrizione 8), anticipated the main Diwali date, set for 8 November 2026 [1].

Meaning of the festival

Diwali, also known as Dipavali or Deepawali (Sanskrit terms meaning «row of lamps»), is one of the most important festivals of the Hindu world and symbolises the triumph of good over darkness, of knowledge over ignorance and of light over evil. In Italy the festival has the status of an officially recognised religious holiday under Agreement Law no. 246 of 31 December 2012 [1].

The programme in Turin

The central event was held on Sunday 25 October 2026 at the Polo del '900, with a cultural and ritual day opened at 2:30pm by official greetings [1]. The Turin celebrations closed on Thursday 29 October at the Casa del Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani, with a performance of traditional music and dance [1].
