The Baldissero d'Alba shooting is a crime incident that took place during the night between Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026 in Baldissero d'Alba, a municipality in the Province of Cuneo, in which a man shot and killed an intruder who had entered the courtyard of his home. The victim, a 25-year-old citizen of Albanian descent, lived in Turin.

The sequence of events

The events took place around 2am inside a property on via Roma, a farmhouse undergoing renovation. The owner of the property, a 35-year-old Italian citizen, was alone in the building when he was reportedly woken by suspicious noises coming from outside. According to the initial account, caught off guard by a group apparently made up of several people, the man picked up a legally held handgun and opened fire in the dark towards the intruders. One of the alleged intruders was hit by the shots and died instantly from the serious injuries sustained.[1][2]

Emergency response and investigation

The 35-year-old himself raised the alarm immediately after the shooting. Paramedics from the 118 emergency service, who arrived on the scene together with law enforcement, could only confirm the victim's death. The area was sealed off by Carabinieri from the Bra company and specialists from the Cuneo Investigative Unit, tasked with establishing the exact sequence of events. The owner of the home is under investigation for homicide.[1][2]

The ballistic report (September 2026)

On 29 September 2026, on the orders of Asti deputy prosecutor Laura Deodato, a site inspection was carried out for the ballistic assessment, entrusted to Stefano Conti, to reconstruct the dynamics of the shooting. The examination, which lasted about five hours and was conducted with dummy rounds and laser pointers, found that the shots — at least 12, fired with a Steyr 9x21 semi-automatic pistol — were fired from a single point, the balcony of the house, from a distance of between ten and thirty metres, towards the torches held by the group of intruders. The fatal shot passed through the neck of the victim, Gjovalin Lazri, a 36-year-old Albanian man living in Turin, as he tried to flee. The owner of the farmhouse, 35-year-old lorry driver Roberto Mollo, remains under investigation for homicide over the incident.1
