Altissime 2026 in Turin: three days of alpine specialities, tastings and mountain traditions — from the publication by Torino Free, 2026-10-26

Altissime 2026 is the second edition of «Altissime – Torino incontra le sue montagne» ("Altissime – Turin Meets Its Mountains"), an event organised by the Fondazione Contrada Torino with the support of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, held in piazza Vittorio Veneto from 30 October to 1 November 2026. The event brings 40 producers and associations from the Alpine territories into the city centre, with the aim of strengthening the bond between Turin and its mountains beyond the purely touristic dimension [1][2].

The event

Piazza Vittorio Veneto is turned into an open-air exhibition area with stands run by mountain producers and associations, alongside talks, tastings and workshops open to the public. The exhibition area stays open for the whole weekend, until Sunday 1 November [1][2].

Themes under discussion

The programme of talks and round tables addresses issues such as depopulation of the valleys, the lack of services and infrastructure, environmental protection, vocational training and job opportunities for young people in the Alpine territories [1][2]. The opening day also focuses on the concept of «metromontagna» ("metromountain"), discussed at a round table at the Museo Accorsi-Ometto: a model that treats the city and the mountains as parts of the same system, called to cooperate through economic, social and cultural exchange [1].

Official remarks

Germano Tagliasacchi, director of the Fondazione Contrada Torino, described the goal of the event as reversing the view of the mountains, from a physical and geographical limit to an extended territory able to offer opportunities for residence, sustainability and development [1]. Jacopo Suppo, deputy mayor of the Metropolitan City of Turin, noted that the mountains are increasingly seen as a possible place of permanent residence, recalling guidance programmes for those wanting to move to, or return to, the Alpine territories [1]. The regional councillor (assessore) Marco Gallo said the event was an opportunity to recognise Turin's Alpine identity, while the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Massimiliano Cipolletta, called for support to businesses, training and local production to attract young people willing to live and work in the mountains [1].
