Unveiling of the Bust of Don Coriasso in Ozegna
On 25 September 2026 the City of Ozegna, a town in the Canavese area of the Metropolitan City of Turin, inaugurated the new façade of the kindergarten on Via Boarelli and unveiled the restored bust of don Lorenzo Coriasso, a figure linked to the town's religious and social history. The initiative was carried out by the municipal administration in collaboration with the Società Operaia di Ozegna and the Lions Club Alto Canavese and Rivarolo Canavese Occidentale.[1][2]
The ceremony
Children from Ozegna's kindergarten and primary school took part in the event, accompanied by their teachers. Also present were the president of the Società Operaia, Enzo Francone, together with the Past Presidents of the Lions Clubs, Gustavo Gamerro and Sara Alice, and the current presidents Roberto Uligini and Giovanni Graziano Agostino, along with Beppe Casetti and Michele Nastro.[1][2]
The bust of don Coriasso was recovered and restored by restorer Margherita Riccardi. The work on the kindergarten's façade was carried out by Renzo Barberis's firm. Thanks were also extended to historian Enzo Morozzo, who helped make the figure and works of don Coriasso better known. After the ceremony, the parish priest don Massimiliano gave a blessing to the site and those present.[1][2]
The mayor's comment
The mayor of Ozegna, Federico Pozzo, stated that the administration wanted to give the community back a piece of its history through the recovery of the bust, recalling that don Coriasso was responsible for the town's attention to childhood, the founding of the local kindergarten, and the restoration of the Santuario della Madonna del Bosco. The mayor also stressed the wish to renew the façade of the kindergarten, which had long been considered in need of maintenance and improvement.[1][2]
