In Piedmont, the free immunization campaign against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) for newborns resumes on 1 October 2026.[1] The campaign has been repeated every year since 2024, when it started on 1 November with the monoclonal antibody Nirsevimab. [3] The campaign, which is free and voluntary, uses monoclonal antibodies — a form of passive immunization that provides ready-made antibodies — offering protection for at least five months and an 80% reduction in RSV infections requiring hospitalization; for the 2026-2027 season the Piedmont Region has budgeted a maximum expenditure of 7.59 million euros and the availability of 25,000 doses.
