Recovery of stolen building equipment near Turin's Colletta park (October 2026)
News of
On the morning of Thursday 15 October 2026, during a routine patrol, officers of the Intelligence, Security and Integration Unit of the Turin Municipal Police find, inside a makeshift shelter in some huts near the entrance to the Colletta park, several cases of specialised building equipment.[1][2][4] The check is part of the stepped-up inspections of the city's parks and green areas ordered by the city administration.[1][2] The tools are in the possession of a woman found on the spot, who is placed under investigation for handling stolen goods.[1][2][4]
Using the tools' serial numbers, and contacting the manufacturer, officers identify the rightful owners: the equipment, worth around 5,000 euros in total, had been stolen the day before, on Wednesday 14 October, from a vehicle belonging to a building firm based in the province of Turin, parked near the Sassi rack railway station.[1][2][3][4] Contacted by officers about getting their equipment back, the owners at first suspect a prank or a scam, surprised at how quickly it was recovered; once reassured, they get their property back.[1][2][3] The proceedings, for now only against the woman under investigation for handling stolen goods, are still at the preliminary stage.[1]
