Feast of San Martino 2026 in Castiglione d'Asti

On 8 November 2026 Castiglione d'Asti, a hamlet of Asti in Piedmont, hosts the traditional celebrations dedicated to its patron saint, San Martino, protector of pilgrims and travellers. The feast is particularly cherished in the hamlet [1].

The day's programme

In the morning a solemn Mass dedicated to San Martino is celebrated, in memory of all the people of Castiglione [1]. Local tradition has it that the day is dedicated especially to young children and teenagers [1].

In the early afternoon the celebrations open with the magic show "Budini' Magic Show", which includes the appearance of the little rabbit "Gigino" [1]. The Pro Loco "La Castiglionese" (local tourist association) also offers children and young people traditional games, handcrafted in wood by master craftsman Andrea Marasso: team, individual, precision and skill games [1].

The afternoon snack and side events

There is also a merenda sinoira (traditional Piedmontese afternoon snack), with dishes prepared by the Pro Loco's cooks led by Aldo Raviola and Franco Romagnolo: roasted chestnuts for San Martino, castiglionese-style tripe soup, crepes, hot chocolate with biscuits and, for adults, mulled wine [1].

During the event an exhibition is set up of artwork made by children from the Castiglione nursery school and young people from the parish youth centre, with messages dedicated to peace among peoples [1]. The day ends with the release of the "Dove of Peace" balloon [1].
