Daytime extension of the Safe Tram and Safe Bus checks
On 18 September 2026 GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) announced the extension to daytime hours of the surveillance service known as "Safe Tram" and "Safe Bus", active on buses and trams of Turin's public transport network. The widening of the hours of coverage was presented as a response to passengers' perceived insecurity on the city's public transport.[1][2]
The measure
The "Safe Tram" and "Safe Bus" services were already operating on part of the GTT network; with the decision announced on 18 September 2026 the coverage is extended to daytime hours as well, in addition to the time slot already covered previously.[1]
Reasons
GTT linked the extension of the service to the sense of insecurity reported by public transport users, presenting the initiative as a response to this widespread feeling among passengers.[1][2]
