Carabinieri and Gtt checks on Turin's public transport (18 September 2026)
On the evening of Friday 18 September 2026 the carabinieri of the Compagnia Torino San Carlo and the Gruppo Torinese Trasporti carry out a coordinated operation of checks on public transport in the nightlife areas of central Turin, between piazza Madama Cristina, via XX Settembre, piazza Vittorio Veneto and via Po.12 On lines 18, 67, 55, 56, 4, 13 and 61 a total of 450 passengers are checked aboard seven buses and trams, and more than 100 fines are issued for travelling without a ticket, around a quarter of those checked.12
During the operation, also aimed at tackling petty crime and drug dealing, the carabinieri identify 45 people, 41 of them foreign nationals, twenty of whom were found to be "of operational interest", and carry out two personal searches looking for drugs.12 The joint checks between the carabinieri and Gtt will continue on a regular basis in various areas of the city.12
