Man shot dead in Baldissero d'Alba (20 September 2026)
During the night between 19 and 20 September 2026, in a farmhouse undergoing renovation on via Roma in Baldissero d'Alba, in the Cuneo area, the owner of the property, 35-year-old haulier Roberto Mollo, woken by suspicious noises coming from the courtyard, opens fire with a legally held pistol at a group of three or four people who had entered the property.124 One of the intruders, Gjovalin Lazri, a 36-year-old of Albanian origin living in Turin, is hit and dies instantly; at the time he was wearing a balaclava, gloves and a dark jacket and was carrying a large screwdriver, while three flashlights abandoned by the fleeing group are found in the courtyard.23 Mollo is under investigation for murder by the Asti public prosecutor's office.14
On 29 September 2026, under the direction of deputy prosecutor Laura Deodato, a ballistic examination is launched to reconstruct the dynamics of the shooting: the tests, lasting around five hours and carried out with dummy bullets and laser pointers, establish that Mollo fired at least twelve shots with a semi-automatic Steyr 9x21 pistol from a distance of between ten and thirty metres, and that the fatal shot, fired from about fifteen metres, hit the victim in the neck as he tried to flee towards a hedge.3 A second nighttime inspection, to assess visibility and lighting conditions, has yet to be scheduled.3
