Crisis at the former Ilva plant in Racconigi (October 2026)
In October 2026 the crisis of the former Ilva group also hit the Piedmontese plant in Racconigi, in the province of Cuneo.1,2
Bergesio's address in the Senate
Speaking in the Senate on the Ex Ilva Decree, Lega senator and vice-president of the Productive Activities Committee Giorgio Maria Bergesio asked for the financial guarantees envisaged by the decree for waste and landfill management to be extended to all companies under extraordinary administration, stressing that the steel crisis does not concern only Taranto but also the Piedmontese plants of Novi Ligure and Racconigi, which he described as "not peripheral".1
Support from the Fondazione Industriali
The Fondazione Industriali, active in the Cuneo area, declared itself available to the workers of the Racconigi plant through the «Support in Corporate Crises» project, already used in the Diageo and Embo crises, to help them toward professional relocation in collaboration with institutions and social partners; its president Giuliana Cirio spoke of «a shared responsibility».2
