2026 Regional Allocation Against Gender Violence

On 5 October 2026 the Piedmont Region made public two new measures dedicated to combating gender-based violence, for a total investment of 2,007,500 euros. The funds include 1,788,500 euros within the actions of the National Strategic Plan on male violence against women, plus a further 219,000 euros earmarked for strengthening guidance, training and economic independence for women victims of violence [1][2]. The stated goal is to support women not only during the emergency and protection phase, but also in the transition toward an independent life [1].

Work and economic independence

450,000 euros are allocated to job placement and reintegration, funding up to 15 projects of 30,000 euros each aimed at women victims of violence, whether alone or with children. The pathways may include guidance, training, internships, job placement support and assistance for self-employment through microcredit, as well as tools such as obtaining a driving licence [2]. A further 219,000 euros are specifically earmarked for strengthening economic independence, funding up to five territorial networks led by Anti-Violence Centres, each with a maximum contribution of 43,800 euros. A facilitator role is envisaged to connect Anti-Violence Centres, Employment Centres, training providers and work-family reconciliation services [2]. The Councillor for Equal Opportunities Marina Chiarelli points out that 54% of the women assisted lack economic independence [1].

Housing

A further 450,000 euros are allocated to housing independence for women victims of violence, whether alone or with children. The measure consolidates the collaboration between the network of 23 Anti-Violence Centres in Piedmont and the eight Social Rental Agencies present in the provincial capitals [1][2]. The non-repayable grant can cover up to a maximum of eight months' rent and, within the same limit, any deposit required by the landlord [2].

Minors and witnessed violence

For the first time the Region is accompanying measures for women with a specific line of action for minors who have experienced violence within their own family. 284,500 euros are allocated to fund up to five projects dedicated to the Centres Against Witnessed Violence [1][2].

Prevention

The regional strategy also provides 340,000 euros for information, training and awareness-raising projects in schools on the topic of gender-based violence, stereotypes and the building of relationships based on respect [1].
